Why Does the World Focus More on Failures Than Successes?

Today morning began with a contemplative text message from a dear friend, who after a warm good morning greeting, poured her heart out with hope and resilience, reflecting on the bitter truth that some people only take interest in others when they’re facing difficulties. She shared, “when my work is navigating a challenging phase, those who never celebrated my successes now seem so interested? Do they find solace in others’ failures? They are now curious about my progress? Why do people often let jealousy and envy overshadow their potential? Why can’t they choose to uplift and inspire one another? Why can’t they radiate positivity and celebrate the uniqueness of each person’s journey.

After deeply connecting with her heartfelt messages, I resonated with her anguish and reflected on the profound impact of such emotions being felt worldwide. Having observed and navigated this widespread human tendency, especially in women, I phoned her with a warm smile, ‘Sister, it’s truly liberating that you’ve shared your emotions with me. Let us acknowledge this world is indeed filled with challenges and negativity, but the goodness shines brighter because it’s rare and precious. Keep smiling, learn to reflect on these aspects of human nature and rise above them with courage. People are envious because you excel beyond them. Behaviors such as selfishness, jealousy, and negativity typically stem from deep-seated fears, insecurities, and unfulfilled needs. When people perceive inadequacies or fear lacking resources, attention, or affection, they frequently resort to self-protection, comparisons, and projecting discontent onto others, ultimately leading to their own suffering. Refrain from getting swayed by such negativity and instead focus on fostering positivity, support, and encouragement towards one another. We should strive to embody the change we desire to see in the world, regardless of circumstances. Ultimately, our actions will be accountable to our conscience and the universe, emphasizing the importance of cultivating good thoughts, intentions, and deeds.
